Acting is another area where dogs are better than cats. In that distasteful 1/2 hour sitcom, Sabrina, Salem the cat is portrayed most often by a puppet. There's an occasional 'real' cat stand in. Whether voice or puppetry, the cat needs human performers to assist in throwaway one-liners.

On the outstanding 1 hour long drama Lost, there's an actual, breathing dog portraying Vincent. Female dog Madison plays Vincent, taking on the very difficult acting challenge of playing another gender. Madison acts right alongside the human actors with no puppet stand ins.

There are decades of entertainment history to support the dogs are better than cats position. For instance, in the Tom & Jerry shorts, Tom the cat consistently pesters Jerry and gets his rear-end kicked by the mouse in the process. Spike the dog, who owns his own home, only makes appearances when Tom's antisocial antics put Spike's peaceful meditations at risk.

Finally, straying from the entertainment world, who's riding with the fire department to come rescue the cat from the top of the tree?
