Filling in the cracks
Opening the new firm is frought with all sorts of challenges, like consistantly paying the mortgage. So to help fill in the income gaps, I've been doing some side work. I've been helping a friend at his homebrew shop in St Charles, but I've also been studying taxes with H&R Block. And now I'm working for them to during tax season.

I know my comment's a little late but here it is anyway... check out Foonberg's How to start and Build a Law Practice, if you haven't already. It's in its 5th edition, and full of useful information for the solo. The other attorney I work with and I have found a number of good suggestions and thoughts. Take it from a person who has done his fair share of others' tax returns!
