Joys of cross country travel
Now I know why Dad used to get us up at 5:00 in the morning to drive to the farm. It wasn't just to miss traffic. It's just easier driving when the kids are asleep. Nick was fine, but Scooter was a pain in the butt. Now keep in mind that she only knows about 50 words, and the only relevent one she could come up with was "Mommy".
Every 10 to 15 minutes. But that's just the average. Sometimes it just went on and on. Of course Sarah could not hear Scooter. So the SOP went like this. Scooter would say "Mommy". I would tell her to wait. Scooter, believing that "wait" means "immediately state request again, perhaps at a higher volume", would again say "Mommy". I would tap Sarah on the leg and once I have gotten her attention I point to Scooter. Sarah would look back and try to decipher what Scooter wanted. Not an easy task when pretty much everything in the van was "Mommy".

Now you just need a third kid to keep the second one company on those long trips.
