Almost a year

This weekend marks the 1 year anniversery of my being contacted by Tulsa Winch. That being the case, I've started to look back at the year a see how its going.

Well the easiest thing to note is that my first year in Oklahoma has been much better than my last year in Illinois. The difference in working for Greer as opposed to Ennis is night and day. I love my job. And even better they seem to love me. In fact, my boss has been trying for to get the company to pay for an MBA from OSU-Tulsa. They value my input and take my suggestions seriously. Quite a change from what I've dealt with for those previous few years. And by the way, I'm making more money too.

On the home front, I think the kids have adjusted well. Scooter is turning into a little cowgirl. And Nick, is having fun with new friends from school and his summer camp. They also like that the apartment complex has a pool. Sarah and I both feel quite cramped in the apartment but for different reasons. Sarah misses her garden, I miss the basement (brewery and office). Also the really isn't a place where one of use can get away from the kids. But on the plus side, we don't have to take care of a 80+ year old house anymore. And it's cheaper to rent the apartment. We're looking at houses, but until we get our finances back in order (way to much on the credit cards and medical bills), we're probably not going to move 'til next summer. But we are no longer living paycheck to paycheck, figuring out which bills we can afford to pay. I'm just glad my gallbladder waited until I was in Tulsa to blow up.

We like the church that we hooked up with. Nick and Scooter both enjoyed VBS while Sarah and I have both joined the bell choir. I've also begun to associate with the local beer club.

The only negatives seem to be the heat (not as bad as advertised, but not that pleasant), almost no beer culture (3.2 beer is king), Shakespeare is a delicacy for the local fleas and ticks and being so far way from family. Everything else should take care of itself.

GMAT finished

This morning, I woke up early and went to town to take the GMAT. Since the program that I'm looking to get into is not the most competitive, I was hoping to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 570-580. After the smoke cleared, I walked away with a 620, which puts me in the 74 percentile.

Not bad for being out of school for a while.
